Walking Football - The Game

Walking Football is a non-contact version of the beautiful game designed for the Over 50s with no upper age limit.  Our oldest player is 86.

The game is usually played in teams of 6, 7 or 8-a-side with games lasting 10-20 minutes, but several variations of the game are played using different numbers of players, restrictions on the amount of touches, size of the goals etc.

A free kick is awarded for running, handling the ball, contact with an opponent or kicking the ball above head height.

The sport has become increasingly popular over the last few years with over 40,000 people playing every week in the UK and teams springing up in other countries.

At Eastbourne Borough we are lucky to have a number of qualified referees who help the sessions run smoothly.

The Walking Football Association has published a guide that is particularly useful for new players.
